Repurposed Project #3 Pom Pom Party Favor Containers

To begin this project you will need:

1. Empty cardboard rolls from paper towels, aluminum foil or plastic wrap.
2. Can of spray paint - your choice of color.
3. Matching ribbon and pom poms.
4. Scissors
5. Exacto or box knife
6. Hole punch
7. String for hanging party favors
8. Glue gun

1. Start by cutting each roll into three smaller rolls with your Exacto knife. Measure the length of your roll and divide it into three sections for a more accurate size.

2. Take your cut rolls to a well ventilated area and spray paint them, making sure to cover the outside surface real well.  This may take a few painting sessions to get a good coat. Don't worry about the inside, it can remain unpainted. Let them dry for the appropriate time, according to the instructions on can.

3. Once the tubes are dry, plug in your hot glue gun and let it warm up for a few minutes. While you are waiting, make a drawing of  how you want to decorate the tubes. Use ribbon and pom pom colors of your choice. Here I have used white ribbon and pink pom poms against a pink tube.

4. Once the glue gun is hot enough to use, you will need seal the bottom ends of each tube so that the container will hold treats. Pinch together one end of each tube and hot glue it together, making sure to get it flat, but don't flatten the entire tube, just the end.

5. Once you have flattened the ends and glued them down, now it is time to decorate the tubes. Use the ribbon and pom poms anyway you like. Use hot glue to hold the ribbon and pom poms in place.  You will only need to use a dot of hot glue in a few places, to secure the ribbon down. No need hot glue the entire piece of ribbon to the cardboard tube. I put a dot of glue at the top, middle and end of the ribbon.

6. After you have decorated the tubes, not it's time to punch two holes in the top of each tube. This is where you will string them, so that they can hang. Puch a hole on each side of the top of the tubes.

7. Tie a string or ribbon to the container, through the holes you just punch.

8. You are Finished!!

The candy containers are now ready to use.  Enjoy!!
